Seachem Seagel Filter Media

SeaGel™ is an advanced filter media that combines the strengths of MatrixCarbon™ and PhosGuard™ to deliver superior water purification for both marine and freshwater aquariums. MatrixCarbon™ offers ultracapacity carbon filtration, effectively removing organic compounds and color impurities to maintain crystal-clear water. PhosGuard™ complements this by powerfully eliminating phosphates, silicates, toxic metals, and acids, addressing common water quality challenges that can impact aquatic life.

Both MatrixCarbon™ and PhosGuard™ are bead-shaped, ensuring optimal water flow and deep penetration within filtration systems. This design enhances the efficiency of contaminant removal, making SeaGel™ ideal for reef tanks, marine environments, and freshwater setups that are not phosphate-buffered. The synergistic effect of these two components provides comprehensive filtration that supports a healthy and balanced aquatic ecosystem.

For best results, SeaGel™ should be used in a filter bag and thoroughly rinsed in freshwater before application. When initially wetted, the product may fizz and generate heat—this is normal and part of the activation process. Typically, SeaGel™ remains effective for 3–4 months, providing long-lasting filtration performance to keep your aquarium water pristine.
